Extracorporeal CO2 elimination for acute exacerbation of severe COPD requiring invasive mechanical ventilation: a randomized controlled trial (the X-COPD trial).

Abstract excerptRationale Acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AE-COPD) requiring invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) are associated with high mortality and long-term disability. Extracorporeal CO₂ removal (ECCO₂R) using modern high-capacity devices may facilitate early endotracheal extubation and reduce IMV-related complications.

Men's experiences of multiple long-term conditions and/or disability in the UK Game of Stones weight management trial: a mixed-methods evaluation.

Abstract excerptObjectives To explore experiences, health outcomes and retention of men with multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs) and/or disability within the Game of Stones weight management randomised controlled trial (RCT). Design Mixed-methods process evaluation within an RCT where secondary outcomes included the Weight Self-Stigma Questionnaire, EuroQol 5-Dimension 5-Level (EQ-5D-5L), EQ-5D-5L anxiety and depression subscale, Patient Health Questionnaire-4 and retention.

Efficacy of Biologics in Patients with Moderate to Very Severe COPD: A Systematic Review.

Abstract excerptA growing number of biologics are approved or in development for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Many reduce acute exacerbations of COPD (AECOPD), particularly among patients with an elevated blood eosinophil count (BEC).

Low-dose ticagrelor combined with aspirin for preventing early neurological deterioration in patients with high-risk non-disabling ischemic cerebrovascular events: a multicenter, prospective, randomized, open-label, clinical trial.

Abstract excerptBackground Early neurological deterioration (END) is associated with a poor prognosis in patients with high‑risk non‑disabling ischemic cerebrovascular events (HR‑NICE). Clopidogrel-based dual antiplatelet therapy is substantially limited by the CYP2C19 gene polymorphism.
